The Ukrainian Studies Foundation in Australia is a registered organisation that has Members and is governed by a Constitution.
The Foundation manages the Australian Shevchenko Trust to provide funding for educational research at the tertiary level and for other initiatives that broaden and promote Ukrainian culture, advance public education, and benefit the community. https://www.fusa.org.au

What does FUSA do? What is the FUSA vision?
Our Vision is to develop and distribute knowledge about Ukraine and its people. To do this FUSA supports cultural events, visitors and academic programmes as well as Postgraduate studies.
Our Mission is to realise our vision by funding quality projects and programmes in Ukrainian studies in Australia.
We do this by supporting academics, students and visitors at Australian universities.
FUSA supports HDR (Higher Degree Research) research students studying at Australian Universities. Scholarships are provided to the value of $25 000 per annum, for a three year period.
FUSA supports supervisors or project leaders at Australian Universities supervising HDR studies in projects that develop knowledge about Ukraine.
FUSA supports research and teaching in Ukrainian studies at Australian universities by funding quality projects about Ukraine.
FUSA supports academics at Australian universities whose research adds to knowledge about Ukraine.

What you need to do before you apply for a scholarship.
Any postgraduate study funded by FUSA must be supported by an Australian University and any degrees awarded must be bestowed by that University.
Before applying you should:
Define your study topic and its relevance to Ukraine
Describe what sources of information you need to carry out research in your chosen area
Identify Australian Universities that have Departments in this area of study
Find a supervisor at an Australian University

If your selected supervisor is not associated with an Australian University, then they should apply for a visitor position (that may be unpaid) at an Australian University. Once supervisor has such an appointment then they can continue to be your supervisor.

This not a preferred option. However, it may be considered if you have some previous work in your chosen area. Your financial support may be proportionally reduced.
